New breast cancer screening arrives in Asheville

ASHEVILLE Doctors are likely to detect more cases of breast cancer in the Asheville area starting in 2015 — and more lives will be saved because of it.

With a hint of early Christmas spirit, the staff at Hope Women's Cancer Center in South Asheville were all smiles Tuesday with the arrival of a new GE tomosynthesis machine. Otherwise known as 3-D mammogram, it is the latest technology in breast cancer screening.
