New advice on flu vaccine for kids, seniors

WASHINGTON -- Now is a good time to get the flu vaccine, before this year's flu season starts kicking in, health officials said Thursday. While the vaccine is recommended for people of all ages, this year they offered special advice for two different age groups: Certain kids should opt for the ouchless nasal spray. Seniors, expect to get a new kind of pneumonia vaccine along with that flu shot.

"The best way to protect yourself against the flu is to get a flu vaccination," Dr. Tom Frieden, director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said before rolling up his sleeve to get his own flu shot at a press conference in Washington, D.C.
