Nepal Police Act Against Protesters on Border With India, Clear Key Bridge

Raxaul: In an overnight crackdown, the Nepal police used batons on hundreds from the Madhesi community - protesting against the country's new constitution - and cleared a bridge over no man's land that connects Bihar's border town of Raxaul to Nepal, and is crucial for sending supplies to the land-locked country.

At around 3 am, about 100 policemen raided the bridge, used batons on the protesters and burnt their tents. About 12 protesters have sustained injuries.
