Nepal: 17 trekkers killed in heavy snow in the Himalayas

Kathmandu, Nepal (CNN) -- Seventeen trekkers, including at least eight foreigners, have died after they were trapped in heavy snowfall while trekking in the Annapurna and Manang regions in central Nepal, the army said.

Twelve of the deaths were in the Annapurna region, Nepal army spokesman Niranjan Shrestha said.
