NBC's outlook still calls for Lack of Brian Williams

Friendship may have its privileges, but defying the CEO of NBC to bring Brian Williams back from a humiliating suspension is not among them. As NBC News staffers brace for the return of Andrew Lack, the adrenaline-infused news executive who will be tasked with turning around the troubled news division, there’s buzz that Lack will put his longtime pal back at the anchor desk. Lack is extremely close friends with Williams from his time running NBC News between 1993 and 2001. “They’re thick as thieves,” a source tells News TV editor Don Kaplan about Lack’s relationship with the disgraced newsman.

A description like that has led to the suggestion that Lack will offer a reprieve for Williams, who is serving a six-month suspension for lying about being shot down in a helicopter while covering the Iraq war.
