‘Nativity’ doesn’t live up to wrappings

Although a Christian-themed Christmas movie would be welcome in many circles, Kasi Lemmons’ “Black Nativity” is a disappointment, especially with the stellar cast headed 
by Jennifer Hudson, Forest Whitaker, Angela Bassett and Tyrese Gibson.

The film updates the 1961 landmark musical stage play by poet Langston Hughes, a work that has been a tradition in Boston at the Tremont Temple since 1969.
