NASA wants a manned mission to Mars by 2035

Energized by the European Space Agency’s major accomplishment in landing a probe on a distant comet, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s chief scientist says she wants to see the space agency put boots on the ground in Mars by 2035.

Dr. Ellen Stofan is committed to the possibility, stating that it’s simply the next logical step for human exploration of the solar system. Putting a permanent base on the Red Planet is eminently possible, she adds, remarking that it’s a critically important step for the advancement of science.
