NASA Set to Awaken New Horizons Robotic Spacecraft For Pluto Mission

NASA is preparing to activate their New Horizons robotic spacecraft which has been mostly at rest since it was first launched in January of 2006. It travels through the solar system, mostly in a hibernation mode, in order to preserve its instruments for its primary mission to study Pluto. And now, nearly three billion miles from Earth it is nearing its destination: the distant, icy dwarf planet known as Pluto. It will make its observation and record data sometime in the middle of January.
