NASA’s LLCD Transmits Data to Earth from Lunar Orbit at Speed of 622 Mbps

Lunar Laser Communication Demonstration (LLCD) of NASA has conveyed data from lunar orbit to Earth at speed of 622 Megabits-per-second (Mbps). The speed of downloading is six times faster as compared to earlier state-of-the-art radio systems that took off to the moon.

LLCD is being flown onboard the Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer satellite called Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer satellite (LADEE), presently orbiting the moon.
