NASA’s Hubble Telescope captures galaxies in their early stages

Astronomers working with the Hubble Space Telescope have assembled a comprehensive picture of the universe out of pictures taken over the course of nine years, from 2003 to 2012. The image is among the most colorful pictures of deep space ever captured, and contains approximately 10,000 galaxies. Using numerous individual exposures, the telescope captured the light from throughout the spectrum, from ultraviolet to near-infrared.

Before the recent study of ultraviolet light, astronomers only had data gathered using near-infrared light, which the birth of stars in galaxies far across the universe.
