A Low-Density Supersonic Decelerator, commonly referred to as NASA's flying saucer was assembled by NASA's scientists and engineers at La Cañada's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
The technology used in this device is a part of NASA's attempt to try and protect its spacecraft during landings in space.
