NASA Developing Inflatable Rocket Technology

NASA wants its future missions to Mars to be safe. For this, it is planning to use an inflatable heat shield for spacecrafts heading to Mars. NASA scientists have already started to work on this technology at NASA's Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia.

The NASA researchers are of the belief that a lightweight and an inflatable high temperature shield may help a future rocket to enter the Martian atmosphere, which is quite thin in comparison to that of Earth.
