Yangon, Myanmar (CNN) — Myanmar citizens voted Sunday (November 8) in a landmark election as the party of veteran democracy campaigner Aung San Suu Kyi seeks a bigger role in the political process.

Billed as the freest elections in the country in a quarter-century, a majority of parliament seats for Suu Kyi's party, the National League for Democracy, would weaken the military's grip.
