The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers celebrated its 100th birthday Monday night by honoring an eclectic group of artists at a benefit gala at New York's Waldorf Astoria.

Joan Baez, Garth Brooks, Billy Joel, Stephen Sondheim and Stevie Wonder were recipients of the first ASCAP Centennial Award. Sting and Chris Botti arrived to pay homage to Joel by performing his Big Man on Mulberry Street; while Joel himself delivered his signature Piano Man.
