Mummified Buddhist monk breathes new life into 'incorruptible' body

One does not simply become incorruptible. It’s a difficult process of self-mummification that was most famously tasked by Lama Dashi-Dorzho Itigilov, a Russian monk. Another monk discovered this week in a cave by a smuggler is believed to have succeeded a century before Itigilov’s death by meditation.

The remarkably preserved body of Lama Dashi-Dorzho Itigilov has long been heralded the holiest of all Buddhist things, but the possible discovery of a predecessor may steal the spotlight.
