In "Rosewater," the first film by "The Daily Show" host Jon Stewart, the answer is far more complicated than those of us more familiar with CNN sound bites could ever imagine. A powerful yet surprisingly approachable tale of an Iranian-born journalist who was imprisoned 118 days for taking a video, it's an absurd and slightly heartbreaking look at what happens when you try to keep an entire country in the dark.

This is a prison story, but perhaps the strongest thing about it is that it's not the traditional "strength through adversity" tale that you get out of so much fiction.
