Most Americans Consume More than Needed Amount of Salt on Daily Basis; Study Finds

Usually we use salt to enhance the taste of our food. Its importance made us fall in love with it. Nevertheless, a recent study reported, “Nearly every single American exceeds the daily salt limits that have been set by federal nutrition experts and we eat too much of it because a vast majority of people in the United States take in most of their daily calories through processed foods or fast foods options.” The study shows that more than 70 percent of many different types of boxed/frozen pizza, pasta with mixed dishes, and meat with mixed dishes, as well as between 50 and 70 percent of cold cuts, soups, and sandwiches, far exceed the US FDA daily salt intake recommendation.

As per the official report from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “Americans consume an average of 3,500 milligrams (mg) of sodium each day (excluding salt added at the table).
