Mosquito-borne diseases are nothing new, particularly in humid, equatorial areas like the Caribbean and Central and South America. But a new mosquito-borne virus has ravaged its way through Florida—in the United States—has been shown to cause joint pain and swelling in a way that appears very similar to patients who have been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. Blood sample of the two conditions also appear to be similar.
