More empty seats coming? Airline stocks fall

Airline stocks are falling sharply Wednesday as investors fret that airlines will add capacity – spoiling what’s been a perfect environment for the stocks.

United Continental is the hardest hit – with the stock down 9.9%, or $6.01, to $54.80 a share. But that’s closely followed with a 8.8% decline, or $3.62, to $37.29 at Southwest, which is the airline that most of the concerns began with.
