Modern Marijuana More Potent, Often Contaminated

Colorado’s marijuana is more potent and often contaminated. So said to Andy LaFrate, president of Denver-based testing firm Charas Scientific, in a report presented yesterday at the annual meeting of the American Chemical Society, in Denver, Colorado. LaFrate reported that the level of THC in retail marijuana, the compound that gives marijuana users a “high,” is more than triple the THC level found in street marijuana mere decades ago.

LaFrate and company also discovered contaminants in the marijuana samples tested including chemical butane and fungus. He stated: “Some contamination is inevitable.
