Mimas – Is There Water Under Those Craters?

Mimas, a lesser known Saturn moon may have a large lake of water at its core. Scientists using the NASA’S Cassini spacecraft discovered a weird wobble (“liberating”) in its motions. The two main possibilities for the wobble – either Mimas has an oddly elongated core, or there’s liquid water under the surface.

Findings from their study published in the journal Science, offer new understanding on mysterious and less-known Mimas. This new information could enlighten us about its early formation.
