Michigan Sugar warns Bay City residents of possible odors

Michigan Sugar Co. is warning Bay City residents that the cleaning of ponds used to store and treat water likely will create some foul odors.

The cooperative owned by sugar beet growers says Monday that sediment and organic material are being removed from the ponds. Michigan Sugar says the cleaning process is expected to take several weeks and is aimed at reducing odors in the future.
