WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Metro's new railcars go into service on the Blue Line Tuesday morning, according to Metro.

Eight of the system's first 7000-series will be rolled out at the Franconia-Springfield station around 7 a.m., officials said. The new cars are safer, and have performed better in crash tests than previous models, Metro said.
