A meteor that blazed through the night sky in the Mid-Atlantic region on Sunday likely entered the Earth’s atmosphere near the middle of Pennsylvania, experts said, giving residents from Virginia to New Hampshire a rare treat.

While meteors are common, experts say most of the time they aren’t seen because they either pass over oceans or uninhabited areas, or occur during the day.
