Melissa McCarthy can’t rescue down-in-the-dumps ‘Tammy’

Halfway through “Tammy,” the new comedy starring Melissa McCarthy, I asked the colleague seated beside me to hit me over the head with a heavy object. The film is not terrible, just mediocre and unoriginal and makes 96 minutes feel like a lifetime.
