The US government is going to raise the standards that it uses in order to assess 16,000 institutions dealing with nursing care that are listed on the Nursing Home Compare website. The new stricter federal standards are likely to cause the nursing homes in the country experience a decline in their scorecard ranking of quality care in 2015.

Around three in 10 nursing homes across the nation are expected to lose one star in the federal five-star ranking system, which is introduced by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), after the program changes and stringent benchmarks for standards are brought.
