Medicare Coverage Will Now Include Annual Lung Cancer Screening of Smokers

As per the announcement made by the US health officials, Medicare will now cover the annual lung cancer screening of seniors who are at high-risk for the disease. Lung cancer is one of the most prominent causes of death in the nation and this decision might prove to be helpful in saving a number of lives. However, health care providers opine that the expensive computed tomography scans (CT-scan) are mainly used to detect cancer at an early stage and it would not be beneficial for many in this case.
