Medicare ACOs Pay Little Attention to Surgeons and Surgery

According to a Health Affairs study, Surgeon and surgery is an important part of patient caring under Accountable Care Organization (ACO) but Medicare doesn’t pay attention to both.

A survey was conducted in which researchers analyzed the experiences of 59 Medicare-approved ACOs, among them 30 ACOs responded. Detailed interviews of seniors present at the four major Medicare Shared Saving Program models were also conducted.
