McDonald's (MCD) said Friday that it expects to incur a $235 million charge in the second quarter related to its efforts to refranchise thousands of restaurants and move its headquarters to Chicago.

The charge will result in a 20-cent-per-share hit on an after-tax basis on the company's earnings. Part of the charge is related to McDonald's plans to move its headquarters from Oak Brook, Ill., to downtown Chicago by the spring of 2018.
