Maynard’s decision to ‘die with dignity’ sparks debate about the ethics of physician-assisted suicide

Few states allow terminally ill, mentally-lucid patients to petition a doctor to help them facilitate their own death, if they have a certain period left to live. Such is the case with Brittany Maynard who moved from California to Oregon to take advantage of Oregon's "death with dignity" law.

The 29-year-old woman was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and after treatment she failed to keep her condition from becoming more severe, her doctors this April informed that she has less than six months to live.
