A new report is very good news in New England. It looks like the birth rate among teenagers in Massachusetts is the lowest ever recorded in the state (teens 15 to 19). This is according to data collected in the 2013 Massachusetts Birth Report. More importantly, this historically low birth rate tracks across all racial and ethnic groups and in both small and large communities—reflecting an overall general reduction and not just among one particular population.
Governor Deval Patrick reports, “This is terrific news for all Massachusetts families, and a dramatic indication that our decisions to invest in our young people—through education, support, and resources—can have a real and lasting impact on their lives and in their communities,”
