Marvin Gaye's Family Sues EMI For Failing To Protect Copyright

It’s not often that a music publisher is accused of doing too little to protect copyright – but that’s what the family of Marvin Gaye is alleging, as part of a row over Robin Thicke’s big hit Blurred Lines.

Earlier this summer, Thicke, along with collaborators Pharrell Williams and Clifford Harris Harris Jr. – known as TI – went to court pre-emptively to try and establish that the song didn’t infringe on the copyright of Gaye’s 1977 song Got to Give it Up.
