The studio announced Thursday that they are adding a sequel to this summer's Paul Rudd-starring film to their upcoming slate of films, called Ant-Man and the Wasp. "The Wasp" refers to the female superhero who can shrink like Ant-Man. In the comics the Wasp's alter-ego was Janet Van Dyne, but the first Ant-Man film suggested the mantle would be taken on by her daughter, Hope, portrayed by Evangeline Lilly.
Ant-Man and the Wasp will hit theaters on July 6, 2018. The new film shifts Marvel's announced slate slightly, with Black Panther moving up to Feb. 16, 2018 and Captain Marvel being pushed back to March 8, 2019.
