Martin Scorsese edits Wolf Of Wall Street to avoid dreaded NC-17 rating from US censors

According to the Hollywood Reporter, explicit scenes of sex and drug taking in the 80s-set drama proved just too much for the Motion Picture Association of America, who promptly awarded it the high rating – which would have meant nobody under 17 would have been able to see the movie in US cinemas.

As a result Scorsese has had to trim the film in order to bring it down to a more user-friendly R rating ahead of its US release over Christmas.
