Mars Rover Opportunity Completed Red Planet Marathon (PHOTOS)

There were no numbers pinned to chests, no electrolyte jellybeans tucked in shorts and no cups of water being held out by volunteers, but a marathon has been completed... with a finish time of 11 years and two months.

According to press releases from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and NASA Headquarters, the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity completed its first Red Planet marathon on Tuesday, clocking 26.219 miles (42.195 kilometers) in 11 years and two months.
