In a newly released trailer for the upcoming Patriots Day, the Oscar nominee stars as a Boston police sergeant guarding the annual Boston Marathon. As the two-minute trailer unfolds, explosions rip the scene apart and a group of Massachusetts authority figures must band together to capture the culprit. As the official movie description reads, "This visceral and unflinching chronicle captures the suspense of one of the most sophisticated manhunts in law enforcement history and celebrates the strength of the people of Boston."
Clearly, the film was inspired largely by the city's 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing, which left six dead and nearly 300 people injured following explosions along Boylston Street as the race was in full swing.
