Massachusetts Department of Public Health on Wednesday selected the very first company that is allowed to cultivate and grow marijuana for medical use. It is an achievement in the perturbed effort in order to carry out the state’s 2012 medical marijuana law. Alternative Therapies Group Inc. has been issued approval to open a dispensary at 50 Grove. St., Salem. It had also applied for a cultivation site at 10 Industrial Way, Amesbury.

But sale of the medical marijuana is still months away as the seeds need at least three months in order to grow. After that ATG will take more review that will include tests of the plants as well as inspections of the company’s transportation plans.
