Malaysia Resumes Detention Without Trial With Anti-Terrorism Law

Malaysia’s parliament passed an anti-terrorism law under which suspects can be held for years without trial, bringing back security measures repealed in 2012 that were used mostly against the government’s political opponents.

The Prevention of Terrorism Act was passed early Tuesday after nearly 15 hours of debate. The vote was 79-60, according to the Malaysian Insider.
