Magnetic Fields Trapped in Meteorite Grains Give Clues about Solar System’s Birth

The most accurate measurements of magnetic fields trapped in meteorite grains are providing evidence as to how solar system was formed. According to the measurements, the shock waves, a type of propagating disturbance, travelling through dusty gases' cloud around the sun played a major role in solar system's evolution.

The results of the measurements were published in a paper on November 12 in the journal Science. Roger Fu, a graduate student of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Steve Desch of Arizona State University's School of Earth and Space Exploration are authors of the paper.
