Taylor Swift bucked the music industry trend of embracing streaming services when she pulled her entire catalogue from Spotify — a bold move but clearly one that paid immediate dividends given the bumper first-week sales of new LP 1989. The former country queen was asked about her stance by Yahoo and she didn’t hide her obvious distaste for new means of music dissemination.
“I’m not willing to contribute my life’s work to an experiment that I don’t feel fairly compensates the writers, producers, artists and creators of this music,” the “Shake It Off” hitmaker explained. “And I just don’t agree with perpetuating the perception that music has no value and should be free....
