Lymphoseek Okayed for Head-Neck Cancer Use

SILVER SPRING, Md. -- The Lymphoseek radiotracer system for tracking potential cancer metastasis is approved for use in head and neck cancer patients, the FDA announced Friday.

Lymphoseek uses a technetium-99 labeled tracer to identify lymph nodes serving areas near primary tumors, allowing oncologists to select for excision and analysis those nodes most likely to harbor emigrating cancer cells.
