A look at inaugural events for Illinois' next governor

Republican Bruce Rauner will be sworn into office next week as the 42nd governor of Illinois. The inaugural festivities start Friday and run through part of next week during the handoff of power from outgoing Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn to Rauner. The Winnetka businessman's inauguration committee — which has raised funds through private donations but not yet released the list — has announced a lineup featuring an expo, dinners and concert. Other newly-elected public officials also will hold open houses and celebrations for the public.

Rauner planned a two-day flyaround tour of Illinois communities. He was scheduled to make retail stops at a pancake house, community center and steakhouse, to name a few.
