A Live-Action Mulan Remake Is in the Works at Disney

They just can’t turn them out fast enough. The creative minds that brought forth every classic childhood fairy tale into the magical world of animation at Walt Disney Studios now seem intent on turning those same magical pictures into live-action stories. If the formula worked once, it can work again. Most recently, it was Cinderella, which received the remake treatment courtesy of director Kenneth Branagh. Then came the news that Tim Burton was in line to direct a live-action version of Dumbo for the studio. There’s also a Beauty and the Beast movie currently underway. And only last weekend the Rock turned Bambi into a deranged thriller on SNL. Okay, so maybe that last one doesn’t count, but if we could get a petition going to get that made into a feature film then we wouldn’t mind backing it.

This week’s announcement focuses on yet another movie. As it turns out, Disney is developing a new, live-action take on Mulan.
