According to a new study published in Current Biology, tinnitus can originate from a number of different problems including injury and disease. Tinnitus, specifically, is a fairly common medical symptom indicated by a constant ringing in the ears. A team of researchers have recently learned the reason why the ringing can be difficult to treat.
An investigative team from the University of Iowa utilized a specific brain-monitoring technique heretofore reserved for the treatment of epilepsy. Using this technique they were able to actually map the process of tinnitus.
