French frigate Hermione became quite famous when it ferried General Lafayette to the United States in 1780. The ship was also used to provide financial and military support to the rebels.
In 1783, the original ship was lost at sea. Twenty years ago, a small group discussed an idea to reconstruct an exact replica of the Hermione. Since that discussion, the group worked tirelessly and the result was the 213-foot three-masted ship.
