By getting the flu vaccine this season, it means your chance of having to go to the doctor is reduced by only 23%, according to the CDC. In a report by Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) it says this seasons vaccine is offering reduced protection and underscores the need for additional prevention and treatment efforts.

The effectiveness of a flu vaccine is determined on how similar the flu in the vaccine is to the flu that is currently going around. The CDC says that when flu vaccines and circulating strings of the flu match, you are at 50% to 60% chance of having to go to the doctor.
