Largest U.S. Health Insurer Raises Profit Outlook for Year

UnitedHealth Group, the largest health insurer in the United States, said on Thursday that its medical costs were about as expected during the second quarter, but analysts were disappointed, saying the ratio of medical costs to premiums was higher than expected.

The company reported second-quarter profit that beat expectations, largely because of cuts in sales expenses and administrative costs.
