Landing site chosen for Rosetta’s Philae

The lander should touch down on November 11 to study the surface of the comet.

According to an ESA statement, the landing site for Philae, a lander to be deployed by the Rosetta probe, has been selected. The location, dubbed Site J, on Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, offers the greatest scientific promise and the least risk compared to other places under consideration.
