Lack of sleep worsens heart disease, boosts heart attack risk by contributing to inflammation: study

A study of more than 600 men and women with heart disease revealed that those who reported sleeping poorly had higher levels of inflammation after 5 years. Inflammation is associated with coronary heart disease and heart attack risk.

Poor sleep appears to worsen heart disease and increase heart attack risk by boosting inflammation in the body over time, researchers from the University of California - San Francisco reported.
