According to the research, the female killer whales live long in pods after menopause and they play a critical role in the survival of the pod with their families and they guide them in the accurate direction in quest of food. The knowledge shared by older female whales in positions of leadership is vital to helping their families’ survival, suggests the research, which is released on Friday and published this week in the journal Current Biology.
